Architecture, proportion and a little drama.A dining table should do more than simply fill a space. It should bring people together while feeling completely at home in its surroundings. Our architectural dining table is crafted from solid oak with a rich ebony finish. Its sculptural bases, softened curves and expansive proportions create a strong presence without overwhelming the room.Designed to comfortably accommodate 10–12 people, it’s a piece where form, function and craftsmanship come together. And above the table? A little glimpse of something new we’re developing at Special Things. An architectural timber pendant light that brings its own character to the space. More on that soon.Custom dining tables, designed and made in Melbourne. We’d love to hear from you at Special Things.#specialthingsfurniture

Fracture Mirror & Paragon Console | Special ThingsA little drama, a little restraint, and a beautiful play of light. Our new Fracture mirror breaks away from traditional shapes, creating movement across the wall as each individual piece captures a different reflection.Paired with our Paragon console, its sculptural lines are balanced by the softness of the console’s curved form. Two very different designs, brought together to create one striking composition.Designed and made in Melbourne.#specialthingsfurniture #mirror #mirrormirror #mirrormirroronthewall #console

When beautiful timber becomes part of the story.

When beautiful timber becomes part of the story. The distinctive grain of sassafras brings something rather special to our Blade entertainment unit. Its natural movement, warmth and individual character make the timber fronts a feature in their own right. The long, low proportions create a sense of balance, while the simplicity of the design allows the beauty of the timber to take centre stage. And that’s something we believe strongly at Special Things. An entertainment unit should do more than accommodate a television. It should contribute to the room, complement its surroundings and feel as though it has always belonged there.Designed and made in Melbourne by Special Things Furniture. We’d love to hear from you at Special Things.#entertainmentunit #customfurniture #specialthingsfurniture #livingroom #interiordesign

The television is there. But it doesn’t have to be the room. When we design an entertainment unit, we’re looking beyond the screen — at the proportions of the wall, the furniture around it, what needs to be stored and how the whole room should feel. Here, natural oak brings warmth into the space, while the open ends give us somewhere for objects, lighting and a little personality. The closed centre keeps the practical side of the room tucked away. It’s a piece designed around the room first, with the television simply becoming part of it.Designed and made in Melbourne by Special Things Furniture.#entertainmentunits #specialthingsfurniture #coffeetable #interiordesign #furnituredesign

Sometimes one coffee table isn’t quite enough.A pair of tables at different heights creates a more relaxed composition — overlapping slightly, giving the room movement while still leaving plenty of usable surface. Here, the warmth of the timber sits beautifully against the soft neutral upholstery, while the black legs keep everything visually light. It’s a simple idea, but one we use often when designing furniture: scale, proportion and how pieces relate to each other can completely change the way a room feels.Designed and made in Melbourne by Special Things Furniture.#SpecialThingsFurniture #CoffeeTables #furniture #furnituredesign #livingroom
